I’ve recently developed a bit of an obsession with melter, a lovely wee toastie shop located a little too closely to Born & Bred for my liking. I hate to admit it but last week I actually ate from it twice in one day, I’m blaming Linzi though, she practically forced the lunchtime toastie on me after my breakfast muffin. Speaking of the chef, we recently took a trip down to Dublin to see our wedding venue, exciting! Obviously this trip consisted of a lot of eating & drinking, a bit too much drinking if I’m honest. We went for lunch in Fallon & Byrnes wine cellar, they’ve always done awesome meat & cheese boards but over lockdown they added a woodfire pizza oven to their kitchen so obviously we needed to check it out. We split a Margherita & some of their unreal potato wedges with basil aioli, they’re honestly so good. We even picked up some aioli in their food hall to take home.
Before heading for dinner we checked out Franks a casual wine bar & store in Camden specialising in natural & organic wines, we tried a couple of different orange wines which I’ve been super excited to try, the other half isn’t normally a wine drinker & even he enjoyed it!
We then headed to Sprezzatura for the main event, we first tried sprezzatura when we were down in Dublin in July last year & we’ve honestly not stopped talking about it since. They do the most amazing fresh pasta & small plates & pride themselves on using fresh Irish produce, we enjoyed our pasta so much we ordered another bowl & shared it for dessert like complete pigs.
The next day we took our two little hungover souls to White Rabbit, a Korean street food restaurant located at the back of an asian grocery shop, I had my first ever corndog! In fairness I wouldn’t really count it as a corndog as it was all cheese but thats what they called it & a deep-fried mound of melted cheese on a stick was precisely what I needed on a hungover Monday while the big man tucked into some Korean fried chicken.
