Uraga is both the name of the washing station and the wider area in Guji that this coffee is from. It’s Root and Branch's second year in a row of this coffee and it’s just as fruit-driven and clean this year as it was last year. Their friend and coffee producer Israel Degfa, has the knack of coffee processing down to a fine art across all 34 of his washing stations.

Process: Washed
Whole Bean
Notes: Papaya, Passionfruit, Raspberries

Getting coffees down from some of the smallholders farmers that supply Uraga is a significant challenge. They supply improved varietals such as Certo and Wolisho as well as older native forest varieties transferred to family smallholder plots. After meticulous processing, Israel’s team select and grade the cherries into categories 1 and 2 with Root and Branch only buying the high grade and high scoring 1’s.

In 2016 Root and Branch opened its doors on a humble Belfast back street to become Belfast’s first specialty micro-roastery. They only work with farmers and green coffee importers they believe in, bringing sustainable and delicious coffees that everyone loves.
